KennyFulgencio: There’s a recent movie “Nude”, about the photography for a very expensive calendar of pics of women like Emily. It’s mostly about the photographer, following him as he takes the pics of the models for the calendar, with secondary focus on the models themselves and the guy who contracted out for these photoshoots–I think he owns a couple of the magazines that do these types of pics, the high-art-nude types. He complains a lot about the pics and how he has to use his own photo team to touch them up after this world-famous photographer takes the super expensive pics in the first place.
Anyway, the interesting part is they say that until the photo shoot linked in this post (which was either done by this same famous photographer, or by another photographer working for this magazine owner guy, it’s confusing), Emily was pretty much unable to get work as a model and was struggling, then after this shoot she quickly jumped to world-fame and being in super high demand for sets like the ones in treats magazine (the ones where she has the huge blonde wig) and in movies. I thought it was pretty interesting–it’s hard to imagine she had trouble getting work, but especially weird that all it took was a high profile photoshoot to completely change that, since it’s not like her appearance changed, yet suddenly everyone wanted her for their own high profile “arty” photoshoots/mags/websites/movies/mags.
Some of the stuff from the other models is interesting too, like how they have to maintain certain high counts of instagram followers to even try to get work, how it’s better if they have a high percentage of female followers so they can get work in ad campaigns for makeup/clothes (if they have a lot of guy followers they can do the calendar/magazine stuff but it’s not as lucrative).
Oh, and this filipino model who’s difficult for the photographer to work with because she’s always awkwardly trying to hide her vag, because her tiger mom will kill her if she lets it show up in the pics. (Even when he promises that they won’t show it in the published pics, but that she has to relax and be less stiff/constricted to take the thousands of photos he uses for each model, she struggles with it.)
