| hannahjames (Oct 2 2017): Still reeling from last night. Thank you all for you overwhelming loveliness. And the biggest thank you to @outlander_starz for letting me join the family even if only for a second. Dream come true. #outlander #helwater #whatsnext |
I’m curious if Hannah actually tested for the safe role of Lady Isobel Dunsany (and Tanya Reynolds was pushing for Lady Geneva Dunsany).
One look at Hannah with her resemblance to Caitriona, Outlander show runner and Diana Gabaldon instantly knew Hannah would be the perfect choice to play Lady Geneva. Her likeness to Caitriona would surely offset the fans negative reaction to the compulsory sex scene with Jamie.
Hannah might have hesitated for a while because of the nudity requirement before she said aye to Lady Geneva audition.
I’m also not ruling out the likelihood Diana, Ronald or one of Outlander producers saw Hannah in MS and thought she will be just right as Lady Geneva with her similarities to Caitriona. A call to Hannah‘s rep and the rest was history. It was basically a guest part but it was a pivotal character and a turning point in Jamie‘s life. A massive opportunity for a newbie like Hannah that may never come again.
Sophie Skelton must have thought the same in auditioning for Brianna Randall Fraser – a role reportedly took ages to find the perfect red-head candidate with decent acting chops, easy on the eyes and has natural, cam-friendly tits. Yep, Sophie should be next in line to make her nude debut. Fingers crossed.
Hannah James (born 4 January 1993) is a British-American actress.
James was raised in Radiant, Virginia by her English mother and American father on a farm.
While she was born and raised in Virginia, James wasn’t necessarily raised as a “Southern girl” per se. Mother being British and her paternal grandfather is British also, so most people would consider her upbringing of English heritage. James was, however, surrounded by Southern culture and other very Southern families who still uphold the Southern traditions.
Homeschooled by her mother until age 10, James then attended an all girls middle school in Charlottesville, VA and then a Quaker school through to her senior year of high school. James was trained in ballet from the age of 2 until 18 before deciding to move into acting.
Upon graduating she was accepted into several drama programs in both the US and UK and decided to attend the Guildford School of Acting in Surrey, England. James studied for three years at GSA and was signed with her British agency, Bloomfield Welch Management, and shortly after with WME and Luber Roklin Management in Los Angeles.
James moved from London for her first pilot season in 2015
(I came out for pilot season and I didn’t know if I was going to stay.”) and booked her first TV miniseries, “Mercy Street” three months after arriving in LA.
