Naturi Naughton Responds To Rumors Of Lil Kim’s Lingering ‘Notorious’ Shade

Naturi Naughton has had starring roles in several films and TV shows and is currently killing it as Tasha on the Starz hit show Power, but she can’t seem to escape the shade looming from her 2009 portrayal of female rap heavyweight Lil Kim in Notorious. Rumors continue circulating that the “Crush On You” rapper continuously expressed her disdain for the blooming starlet.

While Naughton was a guest on Marc Lamont Hill’s new talk show, VH1 Live!, Hill took the opportunity to stir a pot that probably shouldn’t even still be on the stove. Hill relayed to the actress that during the VH1 Hip Hop Honors after party, there was word that Lil Kim was telling people said she didn’t want to hear about or be near the Power star. Naughton expressed her confusion and reverence for the rapper.

“All I know is I had the pleasure and honor of playing Lil Kim in the film Notorious,” she said. “My thing is, I was a first-time actress in a film, this was the beginning of my career. I was a little black girl from Jersey, why not uplift and support that? I’ve always appreciated and loved her work and wish her nothing but the best… I don’t have any beef.”
